There is a positive connection between art and mental health—artistic activities such as sculpting, painting, or drawing are known to lower stress levels and promote mental calmness. Based on the research of the benefits of art, STBHS is now offering an art program as part of its Therapeutic Recreation Program.

This program will be led by Aimee Shattuck (current STBHS Dance instructor). Aimee is an experienced artist involved in the Phx art community. She works as a professional artist and has shown her work in many galleries and businesses over the past 10 years. Aimee hopes to offer the enrichment of life through art to as many people as possible. STBHS Behavioral Health Technicians will work alongside Aimee to provide transportation and behavioral support to kids during the program.

Disclaimer: While under the supervision of an LMFT, this is a Therapeutic Recreation Art Program, not Art therapy as provided by a Registered Art therapist.
